Canadian Brig. Gen. David Cochrane, 2nd Canadian Air Division commander, is greeted upon landing by 62nd Airlift Wing and Western Air Defense Sector leadership April 6. The Western Air Defense Sector's Battle Control System-Fixed illustrates the Federal Aviation Administration temporary 30-mile radius flight restricted area around NGR Stadium for Super Bowl LI. Capt. Joseph Hale, middle, and Bruce Robie, left, from the Western Air Defense Sector run in the POW/MIA Remembrance 24 Hour Run on Joint Base Lewis-McChord Sept. 14 to 15.  The event was hosted by the Air Force Sergeants Association and included participants from 24 Air Force teams from the active duty, Guard, and Reserves assigned to JBLM. A large crane carefully hoisted a McDonnel Douglas F-15A Eagle onto its display pedestal at the Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) Air Park June 14.  The unit received approval from the National Museum of the Air Force to acquire the F-15 from the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (also known as the "Boneyard") located at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.  The WADS mission is to scramble Air National Guard F-15 and F-16 alert fighters at a moment's notice in order to identify, detect and defend against airborne threats.
