AMC commander visits the Western Air Defense Sector
General Carlton D. Everhart II, right, Air Mobility Command commander, receives an update on the Western Air Defense Sector’s capabilities from Col. Gregor J. Leist, middle, WADS commander, during a tour of the unit’s operations floor April 6 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. WADS guards America’s skies 24/7 through the use of over 200 dedicated and shared radar devices. WADS is responsible for maintaining North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) air sovereignty and aerospace control over 73 percent of the western United States.
