  • WADS team runs 491 miles during 24-Hour POW/MIA Run

    Over 50 members of the Western Air Defense Sector ran a combined total of 491 miles during the 24-Hour POW/MIA Remembrance Run at the McChord Field track Sept. 19-20, 2019. WADS placed first in the team division with the 1-94th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, finishing second with 288.5 miles and the 627th Security Forces Squadron finishing third with 241.5 miles.

    AMALGAM EAGLE 18 exercise planners from the U.S. and Mexico toured the Western Air Defense Sector May 22, 2018. AMALGAM EAGLE 18 is a NORAD/U.S. Northern Command tactical exercise which is designed to enhance mutual warning and information sharing procedures in support of a cooperative response to illicit flights that cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

    The Canadian Detachment of the Western Air Defense Sector participated in the 20th Veterans Day program at the Tahoma National Cemetery Nov. 11 in Kent, Wash.
  • U.S. wins WADS Softball Challenge Cup 25-10

    The Canadian Detachment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord had a very successful first inning of the JBLM Can-Am Challenge Cup softball game Oct. 6 at Baker Field on McChord Field. After five runs scored, Keith Spilley suggested loudly from Canada’s dugout that the game be called due to weather.
  • WADS remotely saves over 800 Hurricane Harvey victims

    The Western Air Defense Sector on Joint Base Lewis-McChord diligently worked with dozens of agencies and first responders in direct support of search and rescue operations in the Houston area following the wake of destruction left by Hurricane Harvey since Aug 30.
