  • WADS annual award winners announced

    The winners of the 2018 Western Air Defense Sector annual awards were announced during a ceremony Dec. 1, 2018. The nominees for each award category were the winners of their respective unit annual awards. The WADS is made up of the 225th Air Defense Group, 225th Air Defense Squadron and 225th Support Squadron.
  • Two WADS ultra-runners complete 174 miles during POW/MIA Remembrance Run

    Running one marathon in a day isn’t enough for two Western Air Defense Sector members. 1st Lt. Krosby Keller and Bruce Robie challenged their athletic limits by jointly running the equivalent of more than six marathons during the Joint Base Lewis-McChord 24-Hour POW/MIA Remembrance Run Sept. 18-19, 2018.
  • NORAD commander thanks WADS for actions after plane stolen near Seattle

    The NORAD and USNORTHCOM commander arrived at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Aug. 23 to personally thank the men and women of the Western Air Defense Sector for their quick actions when a Horizon Bombardier Q400 commercial plane was stolen from SeaTac International Airport Aug. 10.

    Three members of the Western Air Defense Sector’s 225th Air Defense Squadron travelled to Guatemala in August to provide air defense expertise to the Guatemalan Air Force.
  • WADS wins First Air Force Command and Control Unit of the Year, three members win individual awards

    The Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) has been recognized by Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region – First Air Force (CONR-1AF) as the Command and Control Unit of the Year. In addition, three Washington Air National Guardsmen assigned to the WADS have been recognized as outstanding performers.
