  • WADS team runs 491 miles during 24-Hour POW/MIA Run

    Over 50 members of the Western Air Defense Sector ran a combined total of 491 miles during the 24-Hour POW/MIA Remembrance Run at the McChord Field track Sept. 19-20, 2019. WADS placed first in the team division with the 1-94th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, finishing second with 288.5 miles and the 627th Security Forces Squadron finishing third with 241.5 miles.
  • Robie places 10th at the Great Wall of China marathon

    What marathon competition has 20,518 countable steps, 7,600 feet in elevation gain and constant exposure under the hot sun? It would be the Conquer the Wall Marathon held May 11, 2019, on the Great Wall of China. Bruce Robie, the 225th Air Defense Squadron Joint National Air Space Defense Planning Group/National Airspace Defense program manager, took on the challenge to “Conquer the Wall” and placed 10th overall.

    The Washington Air National Guard sent eight marksmen from the Western Air Defense Sector, 194th Wing and 141st Air Refueling Wing to the Winston P. Wilson Championship in Little Rock, Ark., April 7-10, 2019.

  • Confined space exercise at WADS power plant

    The Western Air Defense Sector conducted an arc flash injury exercise inside the WADS power plant Nov. 13, 2018. The exercise was designed to help the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Fire Department become accustom to working safely around the WADS unique power plant equipment and practice confined space rescue procedures.
  • WADS annual award winners announced

    The winners of the 2018 Western Air Defense Sector annual awards were announced during a ceremony Dec. 1, 2018. The nominees for each award category were the winners of their respective unit annual awards. The WADS is made up of the 225th Air Defense Group, 225th Air Defense Squadron and 225th Support Squadron.

Krosby Keller and Bruce Robie challenged their athletic limits by jointly running the equivalent of more than six marathons during the Joint Base Lewis-McChord 24-Hour POW/MIA Remembrance Run Sept. 18-19, 2018.
