Crane hoists WADS F-15 static display to permanent pedestal

A large crane carefully hoisted a McDonnel Douglas F-15A Eagle onto its display pedestal at the Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) Air Park June 14. The unit received approval from the National Museum of the Air Force to acquire the F-15 from the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (also known as the "Boneyard") located at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. The WADS mission is to scramble Air National Guard F-15 and F-16 alert fighters at a moment's notice in order to identify, detect and defend against airborne threats.
