    COVID-19 vaccine available to Washington Air Guard members

    Across Washington State, every Air National Guardsman is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine on a voluntary basis, and many are. On Jan. 8, 2021, several members of the 194th Wing and Western Air Defense Sector went through their vaccination process at Camp Murray, Washington. They were among the first few groups within the Washington Air National Guard to receive the vaccine.

    WADS team runs 491 miles during 24-Hour POW/MIA Run

    Over 50 members of the Western Air Defense Sector ran a combined total of 491 miles during the 24-Hour POW/MIA Remembrance Run at the McChord Field track Sept. 19-20, 2019. WADS placed first in the team division with the 1-94th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, finishing second with 288.5 miles and the 627th Security Forces Squadron finishing third with 241.5 miles.

    WADS awarded 2nd Canadian Air Division Commander's Commendation

    During the Western Air Defense Sector Canadian Detachment’s annual Mess Dinner marking the 93rd anniversary of the formation of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) April 7, the 2nd Canadian Air Division/Air Force Doctrine and Training Division commander recognized WADS with the 2nd CAD Commander’s Unit Commendation citation.

    Four members of the Western Air Defense Sector won in their respective categories during the 8th annual Washington Air National Guard awards banquet held at the Spokane Convention Center, Spokane, Wash., on Jan. 28.

    While a large portion of the world tuned in Sunday for Super Bowl LI to watch the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons, the Western Air Defense Sector was busy guarding the skies over NGR Stadium in Houston, Texas, as part of NORAD’s Operation Noble Eagle air defense mission.
